Some of the tests are actually quite reliable, but they can be difficult to read correctly without the proper experience. Additionally, these tests don't give a full picture of the issue, as they don't tell you what kind of mold is present, where it's located and if it's toxic or not.

The Differences However, their difference is that the removal process targets the mold itself while the remediation process targets materials that the mold has damaged or affected. Mold remediation involves the processes that happen after the removal, such as accessing the damages, sanitizing the area, and more.

A visual inspection of the area that has been remediated should show no evidence of present or past mold growth. There should be no moldy or musty odors associated with the building, because these odors suggest that mold continues to grow.

Our company performs several types of mold tests including ERMI and air samples. Air samples differ from ERMI because no settled dust is used. Instead, air is drawn through a cassette and any spores present are deposited onto a glass slide in the cassette and ultimately viewed through a microscope.
